WHARVES are a four-piece indie rock band based in Lennox Head, NSW who are one of the hottest emerging bands on the Australian indie rock scene.
triple j awarded WHARVES the “Unearthed” spot to open Splendour in the Grass 2017, this was off the back of their track ‘Man You Want Me to Be’ which now has over 125,000 Spotify streams.
A raft of exciting indie rock singles have followed, all of which received great support from triple j and community radio across Australia. WHARVES have teamed up with producer Steven Schram (Paul Kelly, Tiny Little Houses, San Cisco) and WHARVES’ highly rated debut EP album Sooner or Later was released in October 2018.
The band’s reputation for putting on an incredible skilled and powerful live show has seen them in hot demand and in addition to playing numerous headline shows they have supported bands such as Ocean Alley, Jack River, Wolfmother, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, The Living End, Polish Club, Kingswood, Eskimo Jo and more. They have played major music festivals including Falls Festival, Festival of the Sun and Bigsound.
2019 saw the band get a huge break when they joined renowned Aussie bands DZ Deathrays and Planet on a tour of Europe and the UK. WHARVES came to the attention of presenters on UK radio stations XS Manchester and Radio X who strongly supported the band’s tracks ‘BLAME’ and ‘Never Missed Anyone Like I Missed You’ (which was featured on John Kennedy’s Xposure show in December 2019). The tracks also received great support from Spotify with adds to huge editorial playlists including New Music Friday, Indie Arrivals and Rock On.
The band are now working with top UK promoter ‘This Feeling’ on a return to the UK in 2020 alongside a stack of new releases.
