James Curd

Chicago’s very own multi-talented musician, James Curd began his musical career in his hometown at the ripe age of 15; finally making his way to Australia that he now calls home.
Through his love of DJing and music, Curd began to write and produce for himself. At nineteen he released his first track on the globally respected label Basenotic out of Paris. Off the back of this success, Curd created Greenskeepers; a name to represent himself and the wide range of music he wrote and the artists he collaborated with.

Four full length albums were released under Greenskeepers and it didn’t take long to catch the attention of fellow labels. Curd has most recently released via the likes of Exploited, Classic, DFA, Tsuba, Trax Records, Repopulate Mars, Play It Down, Sweat It Out, ETC ETC and Ministry Of Sound; to name a few. If his originals weren’t enough, Curd also has a plethora of remixes up his sleeves for the likes of PNAU, Midnight Magic, Poolside, Kaskade, Groove Armada, Flight Facilities and more. In reciprocation for his stellar work on these tracks, Curd’s music has also been remixed by great artist like Poolside, Flosstradamus, Flight Facilities, Juan Maclean, Felix Da Housecat, Doorly, Treasure Fingers, The Rapture, Dimitri From Paris, and Derrick Carter.

Naturally, all of this success called for Curd to hit the road and tour the world. Renowned for his energy behind the decks and his ability to make a party, Curd graced the decks at some of the world’s most respected clubs. From Fabric in London, The Avalon in Los Angeles, Home in Sydney to The Arches in Glasgow. Not to mention playing on impressive line up of festivals such as Park Life in Australia, Lollapalooza In Chicago, T In The Park in Scotland and Electric Picnic in Ireland.

Curd isn’t one to be limited to one niche – leading to the formation of his band,, Favored Nations. For this Curd has teamed up singer, Morgan Phalen whom is also on vocals for Justice. The eclectic, trans-Pacific two piece wraps you in warm vocal melodies, bouncy baselines, understated disco-tinge guitar lines and some therapeutic synth work.

In addition to his already impressive resume, four of Curd’s songs have been featured on Grey’s Anatomy; while others have appeared on T.V shows such as C.S.I Miami, Point Pleasant. His music can also be found on Hollywood blockbusters such as What Happens In Vegas, The Vow and the hugely successful animation The Incredibles. Rolling off the back of his work in T.V. and Film, James now also works behind the scenes as a music supervisor and composer. He has scored the films Cash Only, The Neighbor, Don’t Worry Baby, Low Country, Anguish and the video game Grand Theft Auto 5.

There’s no slowing James Curd as he continues to consistently release ever evolving music by pushing his sound to new lengths. With collaborations in the works with the likes of Honey Dijon, Filip Nikolic from Poolside and Yeahme2, be sure to keep an eye out…
